PATHWAYSmental health

A place for the deeper work.

Pathways was created for people who know their struggle cannot always be reduced to a diagnosis, a slogan, or a quick piece of advice.

Meaningful counseling makes room for the whole story. We don’t believe in quick fixes but in taking a journey to understand where we have been and where we are going.

We don’t grow alone.

What Pathways believes about counseling

We believe understanding matters.

Symptoms deserve attention.

But sometimes they are also telling us that something underneath needs to be understood.

Experiences shape us. Relationships shape us. The ways we’ve learned to survive shape us.

Counseling gives us room to become curious about those things rather than simply judging ourselves for them.

We believe safety comes before vulnerability.

Trust cannot be demanded. It has to be built.

You will never be expected to tell your entire story simply because you’ve walked through the door.

Good therapeutic work happens within a relationship where there is room for honesty, questions, uncertainty, boundaries, and time.

We believe compassion and accountability can coexist.

Compassion doesn’t mean pretending harmful patterns don’t matter. Accountability doesn’t require shame.

Pathways approaches change with both honesty and humanity — helping clients understand their choices and patterns while recognizing the experiences that may have shaped them.

We believe therapy should be collaborative.

You are not a passive participant in your own counseling.

Michelle brings professional knowledge, clinical experience, and perspective. You bring expertise no one else has: your own life.

The work happens where those two things meet.

Meet Michelle

Meet Michelle Dixon

LPC · CADC-II · ADHD-CCSP · SAP · NCC

Michelle’s professional background includes approximately ten years of work in substance-use counseling in addition to her clinical mental health counseling experience and specialized work as a Substance Abuse Professional.

Her approach is thoughtful, direct, compassionate, and deeply respectful of the complexity people bring into the counseling room.

But credentials are only part of what shapes the way Michelle practices. She also brings a personal understanding that life can be complicated, and that people often need somewhere safe enough to be honest about that complexity.

She doesn’t believe counseling should offer simplistic answers to complicated problems. Instead, Pathways makes room for understanding, meaningful participation, and gradual change.
